Prime Minister Launches Half-Half Plus Scheme with Assurance of Phase 2 for Vulnerable Groups

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has officially launched the “Half-Half Plus” scheme, urging citizens to exercise their rights from day one to help stimulate the economy. He confirmed that a second phase is forthcoming, specifically targeting vulnerable groups and individuals without access to mobile phones.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, emphasized the importance of the scheme in generating nationwide income. He stated, “I would like to congratulate the public who will be able to use the ‘Kon La Khrueng Plus’ project starting today for two months. I would like to encourage everyone to spend money to stimulate the economy and provide opportunities for Thai people nationwide to generate income.”

The Prime Minister further addressed concerns regarding individuals who might have missed the opportunity to benefit from the upcoming Phase 2. He mentioned consultations with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, to ensure inclusivity.

Mr. Anutin acknowledged the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, who may struggle with outdated communication devices or unfamiliarity with the application process. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, aligning with principles of sustainability.

Regarding potential corruption within the scheme, Mr. Anutin warned against illegal activities such as exchanging cash for cash. He noted that such practices would jeopardize the scheme’s future phases and require investigation, stressing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the initiative for the benefit of all Thai citizens.
