Bangkok: The Prime Minister presided over a Buddhist chanting ceremony and alms-giving on the occasion of His Majesty the King's birthday.

According to Thai News Agency, the event was led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, who conducted the ceremony on July 28, 2026. The occasion was marked by a Buddhist prayer ceremony and alms-giving event held in honor of His Majesty the King.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of several dignitaries, including members of the Privy Council and their spouses, the President of the Parliament, the President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Senate, presidents of constitutional organizations, cabinet ministers and their spouses, the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, officials from the Royal Household, the Governor of Bangkok, commanders of the armed forces, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and his wife, heads of government agencies at the ministerial level or equivalent, and representatives from the private sector.

Upon the Prime Minister's arrival at Sanam Luang, ten senior monks were seated. The Prime Minister initiated the ceremony by lighting incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem and offered incense and candles before the portrait of His Majesty the King. Following this, officials recited the precepts, which the ten senior monks administered, leading to the chanting of Buddhist prayers.

The event proceeded with the Prime Minister, along with members of the Privy Council, the President of the Parliament, the President of the Supreme Court, the President of the Senate, and presidents of constitutional organizations, offering robes and other offerings to ten monks. The Prime Minister also performed the ritual of pouring water as a symbolic act of receiving blessings, paid respects to the Triple Gem, and offered salutations before the portrait of His Majesty the King. Finally, the Prime Minister led the participants in offering alms to 175 monks, bringing the ceremony to a close.
