Bangkok: The Prime Minister, along with the Cabinet, participated in a religious ceremony commemorating the 100th day since the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by key figures including Ms. Thanon Nirami, Chairperson of the Cabinet Ministers' Spouses Association, and various government officials. The event was held in the presence of Somdej Phra Phutthacharn, Chief Abbot of the Eastern Region, who led the Buddhist chanting ceremony. Senior monks joined in the chanting as a tribute to Her Majesty. The Ministry of Interior was well-represented, with figures such as Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary, and Mrs. Jinnaratch Sampanrat in attendance alongside other high-ranking officials and over 200 civil servants. The ceremony began at 7:30 AM with the Prime Minister lighting incense and candles in honor of the Triple Gem and Her Majesty's portr ait. A religious ritual followed, including the offering of alms and gifts to the monks, and a merit-making ceremony involving alms given to 93 monks. By 8:30 AM, the Prime Minister led a "Gathering of Loyalty" activity on the Thai Khu Fah Building lawn, which involved paying respects to Her Majesty's portrait, a speech of gratitude, and a 93-second moment of silence. This act of homage concluded the formal ceremony. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, known as the "Mother of the Nation," dedicated over 70 years to public service alongside His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Her efforts in natural resource conservation, education, public health, and humanitarian aid have left a significant impact on Thailand. Queen Sirikit's establishment of the "Royal Project for the Promotion of Thai Handicrafts" has been instrumental in promoting Thai arts and crafts globally.
