Bangkok: The Prime Minister has directed all government ministries to actively advance cooperation agreements with China, following his participation in an official visit to the People’s Republic of China alongside His Majesty the King. This directive also includes an urgent call to expedite humanitarian demining efforts.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, disclosed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul has emphasized the significance of the recent visit to China. The visit, which took place from November 13-17, 2025, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, is historic as it marks the first-ever visit by a Thai monarch to China, aimed at bolstering diplomatic ties and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations. Consequently, the Prime Minister has urged ministries that have already signed or are planning to sign cooperation frameworks with China to focus on enhancing relations across various sectors, including trade facilitation, goods inspection, transportation, and attracting trade and investment for the nation’s benefit.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is assigned the responsibility of inspecting, quarantining, and issuing health certificates for all export products to China, ensuring they meet safety standards. The Technology Crime Prevention and Suppression Commission is also urged to address pending issues promptly to safeguard Thailand’s image.
Furthermore, given President Xi Jinping’s interest in purchasing 500,000 tons of Thai rice, the Ministry of Commerce is tasked with finalizing a detailed rice delivery agreement, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is to prepare rice stockpiles meeting China’s quality standards.
In preparation for the upcoming Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in mid-December in Bangkok, the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to prepare adequately for the event. This includes ensuring a smooth and dignified reception for the Chinese Prime Minister.
On another note, concerning the Thai-Cambodian situation, the Prime Minister communicated via Facebook about his discussion with the Malaysian Prime Minister, urging relevant bodies to clarify and foster understanding on this matter. The spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have assured the public that “the President of the United States has not included the suspension of Thailand’s declaration in the ongoing trade tariff negotiations with the United States.” Moreover, the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Defense to “accelerate humanitarian demining to affirm Thailand’s commitment to its obligations.”
