According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister has directed provinces, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), and other relevant agencies to urgently rehearse contingency plans in anticipation of heavy rainfall expected from October 9-13.
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stressed the importance of using Nowcast data in conjunction with the Meteorological Department's forecasts to assess the situation more accurately. He highlighted the need for immediate preparation of evacuation plans in areas at high risk of flooding, particularly for vulnerable groups.
The expected heavy rainfall is predicted to impact the eastern, central, Bangkok, and southern regions. The Prime Minister conducted a video conference to emphasize that all agencies should urgently prepare to manage the forthcoming weather conditions effectively.
