Bangkok: The Prime Minister has urged the Land Department to expedite assistance measures in response to the severe flooding in the southern region. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed the Department of Lands to swiftly implement relief strategies to support those affected by the floods, safeguarding their land rights and ensuring the continuation of public services.

According to Thai News Agency, the Land Department has rolled out three immediate relief measures. The first measure involves a significant reduction in the mortgage registration fee for loans aimed at restoring damages. The fee has been decreased to 0.01 percent from the original 1 percent. This measure covers damages resulting from floods, fires, storms, and other disasters. Affected citizens can acquire a “Certificate of Rights” from local administrative bodies, which can then be used to apply for tax deductions under the relief measures.

The second measure focuses on surveying and verifying land boundaries. In instances where land title boundaries or markers have been lost or blurred due to flooding, satellite imagery will be utilized to assist in redefining these boundaries. This initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by individuals whose property markers have been washed away.

The third measure allows for the issuance of replacement title deeds if the original documents have been lost due to the disaster. Affected individuals can apply for these replacement deeds to ensure their property rights are maintained.

Land offices in the flood-affected areas are working diligently to provide assistance to the residents as swiftly as possible.
