Prime Minister Pushes for “Half-Half Plus Phase 2” Before Parliament Dissolution

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has announced efforts to advance the “Half-Half Plus Phase 2” initiative ahead of the anticipated dissolution of Parliament. This announcement comes amid discussions about the potential for all ministries to submit their budget proposals by December 9th, a notion that the Prime Minister did not directly confirm. Instead, he suggested that inquiries regarding these budgetary plans should be directed to the majority.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed the media prior to leading the 5/2025 Economic Policy Committee meeting. He indicated a commitment to implementing the second phase of the “Half-Half Plus” project before Parliament’s dissolution, stating, “We’re trying.”

Further inquiries about the budget proposal deadline prompted the Prime Minister to refer to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapha. Anutin expressed a desire to convene an Economic Cabinet meeting before issuing any formal statements on the matter.

The Prime Minister also responded to comments made by Mr. Supaiphon Penkhae, a prospective Pheu Thai Party MP candidate for the Bang Phlat-Bangkok Noi district, who criticized the “Half-Half Plus” initiative on social media. Anutin’s response was succinct, urging people to “ask the majority of the people” regarding the program’s perceived shortcomings.
