Prime Minister Summons Security Chief After Thai Ship Caught in Oil Scandal

Bangkok: The Prime Minister engaged in discussions with the Secretary-General of the National Security Council concerning the oil situation following revelations by the Royal Thai Navy about a Thai ship illegally selling oil to Cambodia.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made his way to Government House, where he summoned the Secretary-General of the National Security Council, Mr. Chatchai Bangchawad, for talks on security policies and the recent oil incident. This was in preparation for delivering his policy statement to Parliament. The focus of the discussions is reported to be the illegal activities of a Thai vessel identified by the navy, which was selling oil to Cambodia. Efforts are being made to coordinate with relevant agencies and gather evidence to accelerate legal actions.

In a related development, the Prime Minister also arranged a lunch meeting at the Khu Fah Building with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yotsanu Wongsawat, and Minister of Labour, Chulapun Amornvivat. The meeting aimed to discuss collaborative efforts among ministries, with Yotsanu set to oversee all ministries assigned to the Pheu Thai Party, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
