Bangkok: The Prime Minister stated he did not know that Santi lacked the qualifications to be a minister, while Woraphat faced accusations by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). He requested to wait for input from the Cabinet Secretary, who confirmed that if qualifications were insufficient, the appointment could not proceed.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed reports about Palang Pracharath Party Secretary-General Santi Promphat failing the ministerial qualifications check. Anutin expressed his unawareness of the issue, stating that the Cabinet Secretary is responsible for notifying any qualification issues. He underscored that if there are qualification problems, submissions for royal approval will not occur. He reassured that this was why he had submitted more than 36 names for consideration.
Reporters questioned the situation of Mr. Woraphat Thanyawong, a potential Deputy Minister of Finance, regarding possible disqualification due to a National Anti-Corruption Commission investigation. The Prime Minister noted that the outcome depends on the investigation, and that all names had been submitted to the Cabinet Secretary for review. He emphasized the need for trust in the investigation process and cautioned against drawing premature conclusions or relying on unrelated agencies.
