Prime Minister Urges Ministers to Address Parliamentary Questions; People’s Party’s Shadow Cabinet Formation Supported

Bangkok: "Koravee" reveals that the Prime Minister instructed ministers to answer questions in parliament and that the People's Party's formation of a shadow cabinet is within their rights.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Koravee Prisnanantakul, MP for Ang Thong Province and Chairman of the Government Whip Committee of the Bhumjaithai Party, disclosed the agenda from the recent Government Whip Committee meeting. The meeting, being the first of its kind, aimed at preparing for the upcoming parliamentary sessions scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Mr. Koravee expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet for prioritizing legislative work. He noted that the Prime Minister had stressed the significance of ministers responding to parliamentary inquiries, with confirmations received from all ministers expected to address questions in the forthcoming sessions. For urgent government-related questions, coordination is to be completed in advance, with details anticipated by Monday, facilitating precise scheduling for ministerial responses.

The opposition has been requested to cooperate by informing the whips in advance of the ministers they intend to question, enabling effective coordination. Discussions regarding the appointment of the committee chairperson from the Bhumjaithai Party are slated for this week. While this discussion is not limited to the Bhumjaithai Party, each political party is expected to deliberate on the most suitable candidate for the chairperson role. Although the formation of the committee is confirmed to occur soon, it may not be finalized this week, with confidence expressed that the allocation process will proceed smoothly.

Regarding the People's Party's initiative to establish a shadow cabinet for scrutinizing government activities, Mr. Koravee affirmed it as the opposition's right and a positive development. The government is anticipated to be receptive to the feedback provided by the shadow cabinet.
