Bangkok: The Minister of Tourism has expressed support for the Prime Minister's decision to implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate ministerial performance, describing it as a necessary step for government efficiency.
According to Thai News Agency, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenworakul, responded to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's announcement of a potential cabinet reshuffle within the Bhumjaithai Party. He emphasized that the Prime Minister's directive for ministers to showcase their achievements publicly is crucial. Mr. Panjaroenworakul highlighted positive trends in economic figures, particularly in tourism, and noted improvements following the Middle East conflict. He pointed out that both the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have optimistic estimates, suggesting that Thailand can attract tourists from regions such as the Middle East, India, China, and Europe as the energy crisis stabilizes.
Mr. Surasak reiterated that the Prime Minister's establishment of KPIs is appropriate, stressing the importance of accountability and results in ministerial work. He stated that if ministers' performances are unsatisfactory, the Prime Minister would be responsible for taking action. The implementation of KPIs ensures that all ministries work in harmony, achieving clear outcomes that align with government policies. The ultimate goal, he mentioned, is to guide the country towards development and prosperity, with each ministry playing a vital role in this collective progress.
