Prison Director Shoots Out Prison Guards, Killing Three Over Jealousy

Nakhon ratchasima: The director of Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison had a gunfight with a prison guard at a government housing unit, resulting in three deaths. The incident stemmed from jealousy.

According to Thai News Agency, police from the Nakhon Ratchasima City Police Station investigated a shooting at a prison official’s residence in Nai Mueang Subdistrict. They found a man who had been shot in front of the house. He was identified as Mr. Natthaphong. A 9mm pistol was found. Two injured people, one woman, Ms. Trakun and Mr. Wichit, were found breathing weakly. A .38 caliber pistol was also found. Rescue workers took them to the hospital, but both later died. This brings the total number of fatalities to three.

Investigations revealed that the three men were officials at Nakhon Ratchasima Central Prison. Mr. Natthaphong, the prison director, was the perpetrator who shot Ms. Trakul, his ex-wife, and Mr. Wichit, the newly appointed prison guard and Ms. Trakul’s new husband. Prior to the incident, the three men had a heated argument, leading to a gunfight. Mr. Natthaphong shot himself to escape the crime. The motive was reportedly jealousy.
