Proposal to Redirect Unspent Funds for ‘Thailand Helps Thailand Plus’ Awaits Economic Cabinet Decision

Bangkok: A proposal to utilize unspent funds for the "Thailand Helps Thailand Plus" initiative is set to be submitted to the Economic Cabinet for approval on May 4th. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, is spearheading this effort to repurpose outstanding financial resources for the project.

According to Thai News Agency, Ekniti has disclosed updates concerning the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project, which includes enhancements to state welfare cards. He has directed the Comptroller General's Department and the Budget Bureau to expedite the review of funding sources by April 30th. This initiative involves enacting the Budget Transfer Act of 2026 to recover funds from governmental bodies that have either delayed disbursements or failed to achieve their objectives.

The Ministry of Finance is gearing up to present comprehensive details of the "Thailand Helps Thailand Plus" measures to the Economic Cabinet next week. The registration process for the program is slated to commence in May, with the initiative officially launching in June 2026.
