Propose ‘Phra Prang Wat Arun’ to be Included in the World Heritage List

Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved the submission of the cultural heritage site “Phra Prang, Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Identity of Rattanakosin” to the preliminary list of the World Heritage Center. Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced this significant decision, highlighting the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.

According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet has resolved to approve the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s (MNRE) proposal. The plan is to include the cultural heritage site ‘Phra Prang of Wat Arun Ratchawararam: The Masterpiece of Kung Rattanakosin’ in the Tentative List of the World Heritage Centre. This move aims to recognize the site’s historical and cultural significance on a global platform.

The Cabinet has also agreed to have the President of the National Convention for the Protection of World Heritage sign the document. This document will present ‘Phra Prang of Wat Arun Ratchawararam: The Masterpiece of Krung Rattanakosin’ to the Tentative List of the World Heritage Center in Paris, France. Furthermore, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning has been assigned as the central liaison unit for the Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The office will ensure the smooth presentation of the cultural heritage site to the World Heritage Center, reinforcing the importance of international recognition and protection.
