Bangkok:PTT, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Air Force, has initiated three solar power projects aimed at bolstering energy security and supporting the country's Net Zero target.
According to Thai News Agency, Air Chief Marshal Wisut Somphakdi, Chairman of the Royal Thai Air Force's Renewable Energy Committee, and Dr. Buranin Rattanasombat, Chief Operating Officer of New Business and Sustainability Group at PTT, presided over the inauguration of these solar power generation projects. The projects include a floating solar power system at the Air Operations Command and the Ordnance Factory 3, as well as a rooftop solar power system at the Royal Thai Air Force Academy, all within the Air Operations Command area.
The projects are set under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), which is expected to lower the Air Force's utility expenses by about 52 million baht throughout the project's duration. Additionally, it aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 40,280 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, contributing to Thailand's environmental goals and the transition to environmentally friendly energy.
