Bangkok: PTT states it has never stockpiled oil and is willing to support the DSI for transparency. PTT asserted that its refineries have never stockpiled oil, citing a lack of storage facilities. The company expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to promote transparency.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Special Investigation is set to summon individuals associated with six major refineries to address allegations of incomplete documentation in 166 items. The DSI has uncovered evidence suggesting misconduct, including manipulation of market mechanisms, delaying sales to hoard oil, and speculating on high oil prices. These actions were identified as the main contributors to the severe oil shortage crisis in March 2026. The DSI intends to provide these entities an opportunity to submit necessary documents for clarification as part of due process.
Mr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President of PTT, commented on the allegations, emphasizing that PTT's refineries have never engaged in oil stockpiling. "We cannot stockpile oil because we lack the storage capacity," he stated. Nonetheless, PTT is prepared to cooperate with all relevant sectors to ensure organizational transparency.
