Bangkok: PTT Group showcased Thailand's energy sector capabilities on the global stage at Gastech 2026, affirming the country's readiness to serve as a regional hub for energy cooperation.

According to Thai News Agency, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by Energy Minister Akanat Promphan and other senior government officials, attended the opening ceremony of the PTT Group exhibition at the BITEC exhibition center in Bangkok, where the event runs from Sept 14-17.

Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President of PTT Public Company Limited, stated that PTT is balancing energy security, affordability, and sustainability amid global market volatility and geopolitical uncertainties. He described natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) as destination fuels that support electrical grid reliability while integrating renewable energy.

The company aims to enhance energy security through supply diversification, portfolio management, and international trading networks, alongside carbon reduction efforts such as methane reduction and carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.

PTT Group's infrastructure includes exploration and production operations by PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) in 10 countries, over 4,500 kilometers of onshore and offshore pipelines, and two LNG terminals operated by PTTLNG with a combined receiving capacity of 19 million metric tons per year.

The group is working to expand its international LNG portfolio to 3.7 million tons in 2026, targeting 10 million tons by 2030 and 15 million tons by 2035, in addition to its long-term domestic supply contracts of 6.2 million tons per year.

The company is also advancing decarbonisation initiatives, including Thailand's first carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the Arthit gas field, capable of storing up to 1 million tons of carbon dioxide per year, as well as smart energy management solutions for industrial sectors.
