Bangkok: Weerayuth reveals that the People's Party is waiting to dissect the government's policies. Anutin remains tight-lipped when asked about his thoughts on the cabinet list. Meanwhile, the Udon Thani "political defection" issue is nearing its conclusion with disciplinary action today, with officials confident the outcome will be satisfactory for the party's supporters.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Veerayut Kanchuchat, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party, commented on the cabinet lineup of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government, stating that he understands the number of cabinet members is still uncertain and their qualifications are being verified. However, he prefers to wait for the final list of names before commenting. He added that the party is already preparing for the government policy debate, a major undertaking that requires immediate preparation. He mentioned that the People's Party's MPs discussed their proposed agendas during the policy statement meeting, focusing on two key issues: the urgent motion regarding the oil crisis and the debate on the government's policies.
When asked whether the key issues pushed by the People's Party, such as social security, would be resolved now that Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat is the Minister of Labour, Mr. Veerayuth said that he would wait to see the policy statement first, because the policies themselves will be the deciding factor in determining what the government will ultimately do and whether or not we agree with them.
Regarding whether the disciplinary action against Suriya Wongaree, the MP for Udon Thani Constituency 7, who is considered a "political defector," will be decided at today's meeting, Weerayuth stated that it is one of the agenda items to be discussed with the MPs today.
When asked if he had personally spoken with Mr. Suriya, Mr. Veerayuth said that there is a working group that has spoken with Mr. Suriya and will report and summarize the findings at today's meeting of MPs.
Regarding reports that Mr. Suriya was in debt and forced to accept the bribe, Mr. Veerayuth said that he would assess the situation first and a conclusion would likely be reached today.
When asked whether there would be an attempt to persuade him to return to the People's Party, Mr. Veerayuth said that he would wait to see the conclusion today. The MPs would discuss it further. He affirmed that the punishment would be satisfactory for the People's Party's supporters, as they take into account the voice of the people, especially the people of Udon Thani who have placed their hopes in them.
"After reviewing the video footage, I must say we sympathize with and understand the people of Udon Thani, Constituency 7, and we still want to make the People's Party a source of hope," said Mr. Veerayuth.
When asked how the leaders felt about everyone campaigning, Mr. Veerayuth said that it was a district where they truly had to thank the people. He added that they would continue with proactive measures to ensure the public has confidence in the future.
