Bangkok: Today marked the commencement of public visits to the Royal Palace, where people from across the nation gathered to pay their respects before the portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida, at the Sahathai Samakhom Hall in the Grand Palace.

According to Thai News Agency, the scene at Sanam Luang was filled with mourners dressed in black, arriving steadily at the screening points. Despite the Royal Household Bureau's suspension of public access to visit the late Queen Sirikit from June 13-19, the people's determination to honor Princess Bajrakitiyabha was undeterred. Government agencies facilitated the process by setting up tents and providing food and water donated by the royal family, while documentaries on royal activities were screened for those waiting in line.

Benevolent gestures were prevalent, with volunteers and officials assisting attendees. The BMTA offered free shuttle services across six routes to accommodate visitors. Notably, Mr. Korn Narongdej and Sririta Jensen Narongdej contributed 1,000 food boxes, emphasizing His Majesty's enduring benevolence.

Among the attendees was 80-year-old Grandma Phoeun from Nong Khaem, who, despite her mobility challenges, made the journey alone to honor His Majesty. Ms. Saisom Wongsa-Sulak, President of the Foundation for the Mentally Retarded of Thailand, highlighted Princess Bajrakitiyabha's compassion and her initiatives to aid flood victims and intellectually disabled individuals.

The somber atmosphere persisted into the afternoon as mourners continued to arrive. Groups like "Auntie Manirat's Royal Welcome Group" expressed their admiration for Princess Bajrakitiyabha's kindness and approachability, sharing cherished memories of her interactions.

The Royal Household Bureau will keep the Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion open for public respects and condolences until June 16th, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. High-profile figures, including military and corporate leaders, also participated in the memorial proceedings.
