Pathum Thani:Pumping capacity in the Rangsit Canal has been increased as part of a contingency plan to handle potential flooding.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Woraphot Phetnorachart, Deputy Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, along with key officials, visited the Rangsit Prayursak Canal in Pathum Thani Province to evaluate the water situation and ensure water management strategies are in line with local conditions. The team included Mr. Santi Tem-iam, an Irrigation Engineering Expert, and Mr. Adisorn Champathong, a Hydrology Consultant Expert, among others.
The initial visit was to the floodgate and pumping station at the mouth of Khlong Rangsit in Mueang District. The installation of two additional pumps was ordered by the Deputy Director-General to enhance the drainage capacity into the Chao Phraya River, aiming to reduce water accumulation and improve management efficiency during high water levels.
The delegation also assessed the central sluice gate of Khlong Rangsit 8-9 in Thanyaburi District. Here, they monitored water levels and drainage, which will inform future water management strategies in response to current conditions.
Continuous monitoring of the Rangsit Prayursak Canal's water situation will be conducted by the Royal Irrigation Department in collaboration with relevant agencies. This effort is aimed at ensuring efficient water management, taking into account local water levels, drainage capacity, and minimizing potential negative impacts on the community.
