Raid on Popular Chanthaburi Nightclub Uncovers Widespread Drug Use, Hundreds Test Positive.

Chanthaburi: The Department of Provincial Administration’s special operations unit launched the operation ‘Subdue the East, Defeat the Haunted Ghosts of Chanthaburi’, raiding an entertainment venue in the middle of Chanthaburi city, finding drugs strewn about. Urine tests of customers found hundreds of people tested positive for drugs. At 1:30 a.m., officers raided a nightclub in the center of Chanthaburi and found more than 800 customers enjoying the Halloween night atmosphere. When the officers showed themselves, the customers panicked, threw drugs all over the ground, and tried to escape.

According to Thai News Agency, this operation was carried out after the Department of Provincial Administration received a complaint that the pubs were negligent in allowing customers to use drugs and claimed to have influential people in the area supporting them. The Department of Provincial Administration’s special operations unit sent an undercover officer to investigate and found that the pubs did not check customers
‘ ID cards to screen their age before allowing them to use the services, were negligent in allowing children and teenagers to gather and use the services, and were negligent in allowing the use of drugs in the pubs. It was also found that male customers were found in the women’s restrooms gathering and using drugs all over.

The officers tested the urine of the partygoers and found 96 people with drugs in their urine: 59 men and 37 women. Five of them were under the age of 20. Along with filing charges against the business owner, namely, being a licensee for a place of business, allowing or neglecting to allow the commission of drug-related offenses in the place of business, allowing or neglecting to allow persons under the age of 20 who do not work in the place of business to enter the place of business during business hours, not checking official documents with photos and indicating the age of those entering the place of business, selling alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 20, and encouraging c
