Samut Sakhon: The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) police conducted a raid on a production and import site responsible for over 7,000 counterfeit phone cases of famous brands, leading to the arrest of suspects involved in the operation. The suspects were intercepted in the process of distributing these counterfeit products across various online platforms.
According to Thai News Agency, the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) had received complaints regarding the illegal sale of mobile phone cases that infringe on trademarks. The raid took place at a factory located in Khlong Maduea Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, where Ms. Chutikan, aged 26, was apprehended while operating machinery. She was allegedly rushing to produce counterfeit products intended for sale online. The charges against her include ‘having for sale products with fake trademarks and imitating trademarks of others that have been registered in the Kingdom.’ Authorities seized evidence including counterfeit mobile phone cases and imitated trademarks of brands such as APPLE and CASETIFY, totaling over 7,000 pieces, which also included imports for sale in Thailand. These products are reportedly low-cost, leading to poor quality and substandard materials used in their production.
Additionally, police discovered several large-scale screen printing machines used to print counterfeit trademark phone cases. These were intended for sale to stores and online platforms nationwide. Authorities have issued a warning to the public and business owners to exercise caution when purchasing products, as counterfeit items tend to be made from low-quality materials, have a short lifespan, lack durability, and may cause damage to mobile phones or lead to serious accidents.
The police urge the public to report any sightings of counterfeit products being sold under the same trademark to the Central Investigation Bureau via https://cib.go.th/ or the Facebook page of the Central Investigation Bureau.
