RAKDOK Floral Weeks 2026 Transforms Hua Takhe with Blooming “Banburi” Flowers

Bangkok: "Banburi" flowers bloom in Hua Takhe, revitalizing the old neighborhood and bringing smiles and life back to the community. The old Huatakeh Market in Lat Krabang district has come back to life as the RAKDOK Floral Weeks 2026 festival transforms the canal-side community into an outdoor flower gallery under the concept of "Flowers Spread Smiles."

According to Thai News Agency, the event is drawing both Thai and international tourists to the historic community, encouraging them to check in, take photos, and experience the charm of this century-old area. The festival features 20 floral art installations across 16 locations throughout the old market. These installations include contributions from 11 contestants, 8 pieces from the Rakdok team, and a special piece by a visually impaired artist. Visitors are invited to explore the area, learn about the local way of life, and enjoy the intricately designed artworks.

A central attraction of the event is the "Banburi" artwork by artist Joe Rainforest, which has become a popular photo spot. Tourists queued throughout the day to capture the beauty of the flowers, with organizers enforcing a two-minute limit per person to ensure everyone could enjoy the view. Beyond the visual appeal, RAKDOK Floral Weeks demonstrates the potential of art to rejuvenate communities and boost the grassroots economy. Organizers encourage visitors to explore the alleys of the old market, engaging with local cafes, restaurants, and handicraft businesses rather than merely taking photos and leaving.

The festival also offers workshops, crafts, and creative activities led by the local community, allowing visitors to engage with and learn from local artisans. This promotes a creative tourism model that sustains the local economy by generating direct income for small-scale entrepreneurs in the area.

Hua Takhe, once a thriving canal-side community benefiting from waterway trade, had grown quieter with changes in transportation methods. Now, the community seeks to reignite interest through arts, culture, and tourism, with the RAKDOK Floral Weeks festival playing a pivotal role in drawing visitors and creating business opportunities for local shops, homestays, cafes, and businesses.

RAKDOK Floral Weeks 2026 is open to visitors from July 4th to August 2nd, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily at Hua Takhe Old Market, Lat Krabang District, Bangkok. Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to enjoy the floral displays and support the local economy.
