Rangsiman Rome Criticizes Government Over No-Confidence Debate Duration

Accra:Rome Rangsiman Rome has insisted that the no-confidence debate will proceed as planned for five days, questioning the government's decision to limit it to three days.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party, criticized the government for restricting the no-confidence debate to three days, suggesting it indicates the government's nervousness or awareness of its wrongdoings. He argued that the debate involves accusations against 18 ministers, which cannot be adequately addressed in such a limited timeframe.

He warned that if the government believes it has enough votes and does not need to respond to the accusations, it could worsen the situation. The opposition requires sufficient time to ensure the public understands the issues, knows the truth, and ensures fairness. The government should also have adequate time to address all accusations thoroughly.

Rangsiman Rome emphasized that the debate is a parliamentary agenda item, not one dictated by the Prime Minister's convenience. He confirmed that the debate duration remains five days, and discussions among the whips of the three parties are necessary to finalize the schedule. He stated that a three-day debate is unfeasible, as it would likely lead to protests from the government's side.

Regarding inquiries from the Bhumjaithai Party to scrutinize the government, Rangsiman Rome refrained from commenting on the information source, but expressed confidence in his team's data. He noted that any decisive action depends on the MPs in parliament.

He concluded by questioning the acceptability of living in a monopolized country and urged all MPs, both in opposition and government, to stop tolerating the "blue regime."
