Rare Sighting: Foxes Spotted in Phu Ruea National Park After Decade-Long Absence

Phu Ruea: Two foxes were found walking in front of a camera inside Phu Ruea National Park after not being seen for more than ten years. Ms. Netnapha Ngamnet, Chief of Phu Ruea National Park, revealed that officials surveyed the open forest area in the park and installed cameras to monitor wildlife. They found that the wildlife trap camera was able to record images of two foxes walking in the forest during the day comfortably. This is considered a success from quality patrols to suppress illegal activities related to forests.

According to Thai News Agency, more detailed academic data collection has provided an impressive picture of foxes, the top predators on the food chain in the Phu Ruea forest ecosystem. Foxes like to live in open forests with trees, bushes, and dwarf trees. They are very adaptable animals, with excellent noses, eyesight, and ears. They usually live in pairs and can forage during the day and night. Sometimes they can form large packs of up to 20. They like to howl in the evening and early morning before dawn.

Foxes eat both plants and animals. Most of the animals they eat are small animals. It is possible to see foxes living normally in the wild.
