Ratchaburi: A live cooking demonstration featuring giant prawns in a pan, fresh and incredibly delicious, marked the opening day of the Ratchaburi Chamber of Commerce Fair 2026. The event aims to stimulate the local economy and increase sales of local SMEs and OTOP products, with the giant stir-fried freshwater prawns serving as a major attraction.
According to Thai News Agency, the official opening ceremony of the 'Chamber of Commerce Fair 2026' was attended by a significant number of provincial officials, members of the Chamber of Commerce committee, the Ratchaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, as well as heads of government departments, private sector representatives, and the public. This gathering underscores the importance of the event in fostering economic growth within the region.
The Ratchaburi Chamber of Commerce Fair 2026 is organized as a strategic initiative to invigorate the economy of Ratchaburi Province. By focusing on promoting marketing and expanding distribution channels for SMEs and OTOP businesses, the fair aims to generate income and foster sustainable capital circulation within the economic framework.
A unique highlight of Ratchaburi is its status as the country's largest freshwater prawn farming area, particularly in Bang Phae district. This has been endorsed by Mr. Prakob Sapyodkaew, President of the Thai Aquaculture Association, along with quality prawn farmers' clubs from various provinces. They contribute to the event by bringing fresh prawns to be cooked in large pots, providing tourists with an opportunity to sample this delectable local specialty.
The fair, which runs for 10 days from September 3-12, 2026, offers a range of engaging activities. These include stalls selling consumer goods, SME and OTOP products from local entrepreneurs, and "Blue Flag" products offered by the Ratchaburi Provincial Commerce Office to help reduce living costs for residents. Additionally, activities are being held to encourage youth to utilize their free time productively, allowing them to express themselves creatively through different competitions.
