Ratchaprapha Dam Unaffected by Recent Earthquake

Surat thani: The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has confirmed that the recent earthquake, which occurred at 9:12 AM with a magnitude of 2.9 on the Richter scale, will not impact the structural integrity of the Ratchaprapha Dam. The earthquake, recorded at a depth of 1 kilometer, was accompanied by intermittent tremors in the Khao Phang Subdistrict of Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province. The maximum ground acceleration recorded was 0.00752 g.

According to Thai News Agency, EGAT has assured the public that the dam is safe, as it is engineered to endure earthquakes with ground accelerations of up to 0.1-0.2 g. The Ratchaprapha Dam's location, approximately 11 kilometers from the earthquake's epicenter, further minimizes any potential risk. EGAT will maintain vigilant monitoring of the situation to ensure ongoing safety and stability.
