RBC Meeting Emphasizes Key Points to Reduce Thailand-Cambodia Border Tensions

Bangkok: A meeting of the secretaries of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Thailand and Cambodia, held at the Chong Sangam permanent border crossing in Phusing District, Sisaket Province, focused on addressing and mitigating border tensions through a series of strategic measures. The dialogue took place between representatives from Thailand's 2nd Army Area and Cambodia's 4th Military Region.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting underscored seven critical points aimed at reducing border tensions. One of the primary recommendations was for Cambodia to refrain from moving troops or establishing operational bases near the barbed wire fence, as such proximity could precipitate accidents or undesirable incidents. Another key point was the importance of verifying information and considering facts carefully to prevent the spread of misinformation.

The committee also emphasized the need for collaboration between both nations to foster accurate understanding among the media and the public, thereby reducing the spread of fake news. Finally, both parties agreed on the necessity to strictly adhere to the statements made during the GBC meeting on December 27, 2025, to ensure peace and stability in the border areas.
