Surin: The Commander of Army Region 2 inspected the gaping area and followed up on the clearance of mines to create a safe area for personnel and the local population. Lt. Gen. Wirayut Raksin, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, visited Chong Wae, Ban Thai Niyom, Bak Dai Subdistrict, Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, to follow up and listen to the results of the mine clearance operation from the National Mine Action Center (NMC) and the 4th Humanitarian Mine Action Unit, Royal Thai Army Headquarters, with the 2nd Army Area / Suranaree Forces providing support for the operation in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, the Second Army Region Commander was informed of the progress of the mission, listened to problems, terrain obstacles, and operational risks. He also instructed all units to operate with caution under the highest safety measures and to raise public awareness to prevent the dangers of landmines in border areas.
The Second Army Region reaffirms its commitment to supporting humanitarian missions, reducing the threat from landmines, and continuously enhancing border security to ensure readiness for the mission of protecting sovereignty.
