Saba Yoi: The Commander of Provincial Police Region 9 has initiated an urgent search for two individuals involved in a fatal shooting incident targeting a police car transporting a monk during an alms round in Songkhla Province.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chalermsri, the Commander of Provincial Police Region 9, personally visited the area and mandated an immediate hunt for the two perpetrators, who were on a motorcycle. The assailants opened fire on a police vehicle on the Suan On-Ban Khlong Rian road in Saba Yoi district, approximately 500 meters from Wat Ku Ra. The attack led to the tragic death of a novice monk, who was the son of a police officer, and caused injuries to another individual. In response, security forces, police, soldiers, and local government officials are diligently maintaining security around the area. This is to ensure the bomb squad can safely clear the vicinity, meticulously collect evidence, and inspect the pickup truck for any clues.
The Sangha Council of Region 18 has issued a formal statement urging relevant agencies to take legal action to ensure justice for those who lost their lives and for those injured in this incident.
