Bangkok: Registration for the TH-AI Passport program has surpassed 1.47 million people, emphasizing a payment model based on actual usage.

According to Thai News Agency, BDE announced that the TH-AI Passport initiative, which seeks to enhance digital and artificial intelligence skills among Thais, has recorded over 1.47 million registered users. Since the project's inception, more than 4,000,000 prompts have been entered, with 722,030 users completing at least one lesson and 113,758 users earning certificates for fulfilling course requirements.

Mr. Wethang Puangsap, Secretary-General of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (BDE), outlined that the payment structure for the program will operate on a Pay per Active User basis, as stipulated in the new contract. This agreement accounts for actual usage, with "actual user" defined as an individual engaging with the platform at least once monthly. These users, termed "highly innovative," will be compensated at a rate of 24.6951 THB per person per month. The project primarily targets the general public and AI newcomers, aiming to foster "access, understanding, and practical use" through hands-on learning experiences.

The public relations brochure for the project was prepared on August 18, 2026, ahead of its official launch on August 31, 2026. All government agencies were informed to ensure widespread awareness. Such documentation is customary for government projects, serving to inform both government personnel and the public.

BDE has directed the contractor to hasten the development of a dashboard to display the number of registered users and those who have completed training since the project's commencement on August 31, 2026. The Commission will maintain oversight on this progress.

Mr. Wethang expressed that the initiative aims to cultivate AI technology skills among the general population through various lessons and the application of different AI models. This approach seeks to bridge the technological gap and prepare the nation's workforce for the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
