Repairs to Khlong Ra-ok Reservoir Near Completion

Rayong:Repairs to the spillway of the Khlong Ra-ok Reservoir in Klaeng District, Rayong Province, are nearing completion as the Royal Irrigation Department intensifies efforts to address the damage.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Irrigation Department has been working on repairing the concrete wall of the spillway at the Khlong Ra-ok Reservoir. The repair work, which is currently about 80% complete, is expected to be finished today. The department is focusing on reinforcing the structure to ensure enhanced safety in water management, following directives from Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

Mr. Witthaya Kaewmee, Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, has instructed local units to accelerate the repair process while closely monitoring the structural integrity of the reservoir. The goal is to ensure safe water management and reduce potential impacts on downstream communities. Officials are expediting the work as planned and will thoroughly inspect the structure to confirm its stability and readiness for full operation.

In addition to the repairs, the department is managing water resources in the reservoir by accelerating water release through existing waterways, considering the system's capacity. The water levels in the Khlong Ra-ok Reservoir have exceeded its storage capacity, prompting continuous monitoring of inflow and downstream areas, including the sub-districts of Thung Khwai Kin, Nam Pen, Ban Na, and Khlong Pun.

Preparedness measures are in place with machinery, equipment, and personnel ready to provide immediate assistance if necessary. The department is also coordinating with local agencies and keeping the public informed to help residents prepare for any potential changes in the situation.
