Bangkok: Restoration efforts for the historic Ta Kwai Castle are projected to span two years, as confirmed by the Ministry of Culture. Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, the Minister of Culture, emphasized that the project is currently in the budget allocation phase. The Ministry is in continuous coordination with the local military to ensure security in the area and is optimistic that modern technology will facilitate a restoration that closely mirrors the castle's original grandeur.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sabida highlighted that the Fine Arts Department has concluded its preliminary survey, setting the stage for the restoration to commence. The Ministry of Culture is actively working with military forces to secure the site, ensuring that officials are equipped to offer necessary support throughout the restoration process.
When questioned about the current safety and conflict status of the region, Ms. Sabida clarified that security assessments fall under the jurisdiction of relevant forces. However, she assured that based on the information provided to her, officials are prepared to facilitate safe access to the site.
Ms. Sabida further elaborated on the restoration goals, aiming to preserve the castle's original appearance using advanced restoration technologies. She acknowledged potential challenges with color differentiation between old and new materials but assured that the castle's original style would be maintained. The Fine Arts Department possesses the expertise required for this meticulous restoration. Once completed, Ta Kwai Castle is expected to welcome tourists, although additional area and landscaping enhancements might be necessary to accommodate visitors.
