Rider Network Challenges Former Platform Executive’s Bid for Parliament

Bangkok: A network of riders and platform workers has raised strong objections against the candidacy of a former platform executive for the upcoming 2026 general election. The group submitted a letter to the People’s Party on December 23, 2025, expressing their opposition to the executive’s nomination under the party-list system.

According to Thai News Agency, the network accused the former executive of exploiting workers and failing to provide adequate welfare benefits. They claimed that the executive refused to recognize riders as employees under labor law, which they argue has led to a significant lack of protection for workers. The network urged the People’s Party to reconsider the nomination, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding platform workers’ rights under labor laws. They advocate for ensuring minimum hourly wages, fair work-rate pay, and appropriate welfare for all platform workers.

In addition, the network called upon labor networks within the People’s Party to join their opposition and to work towards upholding the rights of workers across all sectors.
