Robots Utilized for Dismantling Samsen Police Station Building Structure

Bangkok: Officials employed robots to dismantle the structure of Samsen Police Station, utilizing advanced techniques in the demolition process.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation involved drilling holes in the front and sides of the concrete, subsequently filling them with sand, while cranes lowered officials into the structure to inspect the progress.

Throughout the operation, a remote-controlled robotic backhoe equipped with a concrete crusher was used to penetrate the concrete walls of the Samsen Police Station building. Each demolition cycle lasted 30 minutes, after which officials paused the robotic activity to fill the holes with sand. A crane was instrumental in lowering baskets carrying officials, allowing them to inspect the interior of the structure.

The demolition plan prioritizes dismantling the building to prevent structural damage. The process begins with the gradual removal of the roof, foundation, and pillars. A remote-controlled robotic backhoe with concrete clamps is tasked with drilling into the building structure, ensuring worker safety by minimizing physical involvement in potentially dangerous areas.

The building’s floor will be segmented into panels, preserving only the outline, with progress already visible in certain sections. Measures are in place to prevent landslides beneath the structure, and movement measuring devices are being used to monitor any potential shifts. During the demolition, Samsen Police Station will continue operations in its existing building, and surrounding police flats will be monitored with movement measuring devices. Unauthorized personnel are prohibited from the demolition area for safety reasons.
