Bangkok: The Rama III Expressway Project has issued a clarification following an alarming incident where a rock was thrown onto the Rama II Expressway, subsequently hitting a car. An investigation revealed a mysterious individual standing on the overpass roof at the time of the incident. Notably, no project work was being conducted on the day of this occurrence.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident prompted motorists to express their shock and concern. A video clip was sent to the Facebook page Drama-addict, serving as a public warning. The message accompanying the video detailed how workers were seen throwing rocks or construction debris back onto the expressway near Bangmod Hospital. The debris failed to reach its intended destination, instead striking a car’s windshield. The motorists urged their peers and relevant agencies to exercise greater caution, highlighting the potential for severe consequences if larger rocks or motorcycles were involved.

In response, the Rama III Expressway Project, Contract 2, has addressed the situation. They confirmed that after an investigation into the March 21 incident, it was determined that the area where the individual stood was not an active project site at the time. CCTV footage corroborated that the person on the skywalk roof was not a project employee. To prevent future incidents, the project has committed to increasing the frequency of inspections to deter unauthorized access to construction zones.
