Bang nam priao: Rodtang Jitmuangnon, a renowned Thai boxer, held a press conference at his residence in Bang Nam Priao district regarding a lawsuit filed against him by his former agency, ONE Championship, for breach of contract. The lawsuit alleges that the contract included a clause stating that after its expiration, ONE still had the right to bid against other promotions, and that Rodtang was prohibited from fighting anywhere else for an additional 12 months, starting from the end of March. ONE also filed a defamation lawsuit against Rodtang for alleged forgery of a signature, with the total damages amounting to 542 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, this stems from Rodtang's prior post on his personal social media that his contract with ONE had expired at the end of March, and also that his signature on the ONE contract had been forged.
Rodtang issued a statement today confirming that he only intends to protect his own rights and has no intention of quarreling with anyone. Rodtang's legal team stated that the matter is now in the court process and therefore they will not comment further on the details. However, they affirmed that there is clear and sufficient evidence to present to the court for consideration of the facts regarding the contract.
Regarding his fight in Japan against Takeru Segawa on April 29th, Rodtang confirmed that he is ready and willing to travel to compete as scheduled. However, his legal team is concerned that the contract may not be legally binding for that fight. Furthermore, Rodtang's team has not yet received the complete new contract from ONE, which was signed in 2022. ONE has been asked to send the complete contract by April 18th.
ONE has confirmed that the 2022 contract remains in effect for both ONE and Rodtang to this day.
