Rome: “Rome” has issued a strong condemnation against the Cambodian government following violent clashes on the Thai-Cambodian border. The situation has raised concerns among international communities regarding the safety of civilians and vulnerable groups in the conflict zones. The conflict has been attributed to an aggressive campaign by the Cambodian government, led by Hun Sen, which is seen as an attempt to assert dominance over Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rangsiman Rome, a Member of Parliament from the Prachachon Party and Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on State Security, Border Affairs, National Strategy, and Reform, has criticized the Cambodian government’s involvement in the border conflict. He highlighted the violation of the Ottawa Convention and condemned the use of booby traps, which have caused suffering in the region for years. Mr. Rangsiman urged Thailand to take a firm stance against Cambodia’s actions and to seek international support to address the situation.
Mr. Rangsiman suggested that Thailand should immediately invite ambassadors from various countries to observe the situation and to present the issue at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to highlight Cambodia’s violation of international law. He emphasized the need for proactive measures by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prevent further escalation and to ensure the safety of civilians affected by the conflict.
In a recent committee meeting, Mr. Rangsiman called for the involvement of key government figures, including Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, and General Nattapol Nakphanit, to address the situation. He noted the government’s inability to effectively communicate and manage the conflict, which has exacerbated tensions. Mr. Rangsiman stressed the importance of preparing support measures for vulnerable groups and ensuring their safety amid the ongoing clashes.
Mr. Rangsiman criticized Cambodia’s aggressive behavior and highlighted the importance of international dialogue to address the issue. He warned against the escalation of the conflict and emphasized the need for Thailand to maintain its national dignity while responding appropriately to Cambodia’s provocations. He also called for increased measures by the government to address the threats and to prevent the situation from escalating into a larger conflict.
The ongoing conflict has put pressure on Thailand to respond to Cambodia’s actions while maintaining international support. Mr. Rangsiman concluded by urging the government to consider long-term strategies to manage the situation and to ensure that Cambodia does not achieve its objectives through aggressive means.
