Royal Barge Procession Rehearsal Draws Large Crowds in Thailand

Bangkok:The seats were packed with people reserving places to watch the dress rehearsal of the royal procession.

According to Thai News Agency, a full-scale rehearsal of the Royal Barge Procession took place today. People are gradually reserving seats in anticipation of this spectacular royal ceremony. The Royal Thai Navy has prepared 52 royal barges and over 2,200 personnel ahead of the official ceremony on November 6th.

The atmosphere at Santi Chai Prakan Park in Phra Nakhon District, located along the Chao Phraya River, was filled with people waiting to watch the full rehearsal of the royal barge procession. This event is part of the royal visit to perform merit-making ceremonies for the Kathina robe offering in the year 2026 at Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahaviharn, on the occasion of the auspicious 4th cycle birthday celebration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The rehearsal of the royal barge procession will begin moving from Rama VIII Bridge at 300 PM and conclude at Wat Arun Ratchawararam.

At the viewing point in Santi Chai Prakan Park, 1,500 seats were provided for the public, many of whom were Thai and foreign nationals. It was observed that seats were mostly occupied by people who had been waiting since 9 am, and some had traveled from as far away as Nong Khai province. Upon questioning, it was found that many came today because they could not attend the royal ceremony on November 6th, but did not want to miss this important opportunity to witness Thailand's long-standing royal tradition.

The Royal Thai Navy has also provided three viewing areas for the public the Royal Thai Navy Club, the Tassana Phirom Plaza, the area around the Royal Thai Navy Auditorium, and the Royal Thai Naval Academy building. These areas will be open to the public only on the day of the full rehearsal.

For those who wish to watch from public areas, viewing points can be chosen along the Chao Phraya River, from the Rama VIII Bridge to Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
