Royal Irrigation Department Warns of Increased Water Discharge from Mae Klong Dam

Bangkok:The Royal Irrigation Department has issued an urgent warning about increased water discharge from the Mae Klong Dam. The announcement was made due to rising water levels in the Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai rivers.

According to Thai News Agency, the department's Irrigation Office 13 has stated that the drainage rate is expected to increase to more than 2,000 cubic meters per second. As a result, water levels in the Mae Klong River downstream of the dam are anticipated to rise by more than 80 centimeters from their current level.

Residents in areas along the riverbanks, low-lying regions, and riversides are advised to take precautions. These include lifting objects to higher positions, monitoring patients and the elderly, and preparing an evacuation plan in case of sudden flooding. The public is urged to stay informed by closely monitoring news updates.
