Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force has received vital relief supplies from the Friends in Need (Por Por) Foundation of the Thai Red Cross Society to aid flood-stricken communities in Thailand’s southern region. The initiative aims to expedite recovery and return to normalcy for affected residents.
According to Thai News Agency, Air Chief Marshal Seksan Kantha, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force, presided over the ceremony on November 24, 2015, at Squadron 601, Wing 6. He received 4,000 ready-to-eat meal sets and consumer goods from Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Secretary-General of the Friends in Need (Por Por) Foundation. These supplies are set to be transported by C-130 aircraft to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, which has been severely affected by flooding.
The Air Force Commander emphasized the urgency of delivering all relief supplies to Wing 56 in Hat Yai District to support local agencies in mitigating the disaster’s impact. He outlined plans for continued assistance until the situation stabilizes, urging efficient management and collaboration among local Air Force units and other agencies to avoid operational duplication and accelerate recovery.
The Secretary-General of the Friends in Need (Por Por) Foundation expressed gratitude to the Royal Thai Air Force for their logistical support in delivering relief to areas where land routes are inaccessible. The relief efforts include the distribution of 12,000 ready-to-eat meals and 400 cooked meals. Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali has personally overseen the preparation of these relief packages. Donations to support flood victims can be made to the Friends in Need (Por Por) Foundation.
In addition to the meals, the Royal Thai Air Force has transported 200 royal relief bags and various consumer goods from the Friends in Need (of the Royal Thai Army) Foundation. These include hot food, ready-to-eat meals, volunteer shirts, rubber gloves, paper toiletries, rice boxes, and additional relief supplies.
Further relief efforts are planned for November 27, 2015, with the Royal Thai Air Force poised to transport additional relief bags from Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited, bringing the total to 1,500 bags for continued support to the affected regions.
