Royal Thai Army Calls on Eligible Men for Military Conscription Selection

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army is inviting Thai men to report for military conscription selection between April 1st and 12th, 2026. The invitation is extended to men who have reached the age of 21, born in 2005, and those aged 22 to 29, born between 1997 and 2004, who have not previously undergone military conscription selection or whose results were not finalized in past selections. The selection period excludes April 6, 2026, due to Chakri Day.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army encourages participants to volunteer for compulsory military service, offering them the opportunity to choose their preferred unit of service. In preparation for the selection process, candidates are required to present several documents, including a Certificate (Form S.D.9), a Military service summons (Form S.D. 35), a National ID card, and an academic transcript from upper secondary school or equivalent onwards. Additionally, a medical certificate or treatment history, issued by a public or private hospital not older than 60 days prior to the selection examination date, is necessary. If applicable, a name change document should also be provided.

The Royal Thai Army has established a coordination command center across various levels, from the Army Headquarters and regional army commands to military districts, to assist and resolve any issues that may occur during the selection process. A special 'Fast Lane' is available for patients, people with disabilities, volunteers, and individuals granted deferments to streamline the process and reduce congestion on the selection day.

For those who volunteer to serve as regular soldiers, several benefits are available on the selection day. Volunteers can express their preference for a military service unit, select their desired department, and determine their enlistment period. Individuals may also qualify for a reduction in service time if they hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) or have completed the first or second year of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
