Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has unveiled aerial drone images that clearly depict the Preah Vihear Temple being exploited by Cambodia as a military base. This revelation has exposed the use of the temple for housing heavy weaponry, construction of bunkers, and offensive actions targeting Thai territory.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai Army's aerial images were captured by the Phoenix Team utilizing a drone. These images document the presence of Cambodian troops utilizing the area surrounding Preah Vihear Temple for military purposes, supported by a range of weapons.

The photographs reveal the deployment of various heavy weapons by the Cambodian military, such as mortar launchers, recoilless rifles, and anti-aircraft guns. The site also includes bunkers, communication trenches, and storage facilities for weapons, ammunition, and explosives. These armaments have reportedly been used in aggressive actions against Thai territories.

The areas impacted by Cambodian military operations from the Preah Vihear mountain region include the Pha Mor E Daeng tourist service building, Preah Vihear National Park office, Huai Ta Maria area, and residential areas in Kantaralak District, Sisaket Province. These attacks have resulted in significant damage, injuries, and casualties.

The findings assert that Cambodia's use of Preah Vihear Temple and its vicinity as a military stronghold to launch attacks on Thailand contravenes the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the use of cultural heritage sites for military purposes.
