Royal Thai Navy Celebrates Coronation Day with Volunteer Activities

Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy signed a congratulatory message on the occasion of Coronation Day. At 7:35 AM, Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, along with Mrs. Ariya Fuengchan, President of the Royal Thai Navy Wives Association, senior naval officers, and heads of subordinate units of the Royal Thai Navy and their spouses, signed a congratulatory message to His Majesty the King on the occasion of Coronation Day, May 4, 2026. The ceremony took place in the Chao Phraya Room, Royal Thai Navy Auditorium.

According to Thai News Agency, following the ceremony, the Commander-in-Chief led senior naval officers and Royal Thai Navy personnel in a royal volunteer activity, "We Do Good Deeds with Our Hearts," at Wat Pradu Nai Song Tham, Bangkok Yai District. This included cleaning and landscaping the temple grounds, developing the surrounding community, and setting up service points for the public. These services included providing lunch, haircuts, basic bicycle/motorcycle repairs, home appliance repairs, and basic medical services from the Royal Thai Navy Medical Department. They also distributed relief packages to disabled and bedridden patients. Personnel from various Royal Thai Navy units, local community members, and volunteers participated in the event. Bangkok Yai Metropolitan Police Station and Bangkok Yai District Office jointly participated in the event to demonstrate loyalty and commemorate the coronation ceremony of His Majesty the King, as well as to continue strengthening public trust and confidence in the Royal Thai Navy.

Chakri Day (Coronation Day) commemorates the anniversary of His Majesty the King's complete coronation as the King of Thailand according to ancient royal tradition. In the current reign, Chakri Day is celebrated on the same date as the coronation, which His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn graciously decreed to be held on May 4-6, 2019. The official coronation ceremony took place on May 4, 2019. Therefore, Chakri Day currently falls on May 4th of every year.
