Royal Thai Navy Pursues Cambodian Fishing Vessels In Thai Waters

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Navy Region 1 has dispatched warships to pursue 25 Cambodian fishing vessels that encroached on Thai waters.

According to Thai News Agency, a report from the First Naval Area Command indicated that on February 7, 2026, maritime intelligence detected numerous Cambodian fishing vessels illegally operating in Thai waters near the 211-degree bearing. This incident raised concerns about maritime security.

Vice Admiral Chalermchai Suankaew, Commander of the First Naval Area Command, responded by ordering the Commander of the Gulf of Thailand Patrol Squadron to deploy Patrol Boats T.996 and T.265 to urgently investigate the reported area.

Upon arrival at 2:00 PM, the patrol boats discovered approximately 25 Cambodian fishing vessels had crossed about 1 nautical mile into Thai waters. The vessels, however, quickly altered their course and fled back to Cambodian territory upon noticing the Thai patrol boats, preventing any pursuit or apprehension.

Recent reports have confirmed that all Cambodian fishing vessels have returned to their own territorial waters. Meanwhile, patrol boats T.996 and T.265 continue their missions along the 211-degree bearing line to monitor and prevent further encroachments in the upper Gulf of Thailand.
