Bangkok: The Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party has announced its intention to closely examine the 2026 budget, focusing on reducing unnecessary expenditures to ensure cost-effective use of funds for the country’s benefit.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akkaradet Wongpitakroj, a Member of Parliament for Ratchaburi Province and spokesperson for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, highlighted the party’s preparations for assessing the draft of the 2026 Fiscal Year Budget Act. The party aims to ensure that the budget is utilized efficiently to serve the national interest.
Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, along with Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, have instructed all party members in the House of Representatives to thoroughly research and prepare for the review of the 2026 Budget Act. This preparation is crucial as the parliamentary session comes to a close, with MPs focused on addressing constituent needs.
The party plans to convene a meeting to select a delegate to participate in the committee evaluating the draft bill. Mr. Phiraphan and Mr. Ekkanat have stressed the importance of scrutinizing and minimizing unnecessary budgets within each ministry, ensuring all agencies use funds effectively and achieve maximum national benefits. The limited national budget and potential future challenges necessitate focusing on essential projects only, advocating immediate budget cuts for non-essential items.
Mr. Akkaradet stated that Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party’s primary focus in reviewing the 2026 budget bill is ensuring funds are allocated solely for necessary expenditures. Should any budget or project lack a logical justification or appear inappropriate, party MPs are expected to propose budget reductions. This approach aligns with the party’s commitment to using the budget to genuinely address national issues and benefit citizens.
The review of the 2026 budget bill is scheduled for late May, with the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party committed to conducting a thorough assessment.
