Saeng Emphasizes Justice Over Emotions in Party Dissolution Case

Bangkok: Saeng insists on fairness for the public in the party dissolution case, stating he will not use emotions to make a decision. Saengsawat affirmed that justice will be served in the case of the party dissolution, without resorting to feelings in making decisions. He emphasized that the investigation is confidential and will only become clear after a resolution is passed.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), commented on the case to dissolve the People's Party regarding Spectre C Co., Ltd., stating that the dissolution of a party depends on the facts and the prescribed laws. Currently, the investigation into the dissolution of the party is underway. The law clearly defines the elements of the offense. Whether it meets the legal criteria is currently being investigated, and individuals have been invited to give statements. Once the matter enters the system, fairness must be given to all parties. He added that he cannot comment further at this time as the matter is still under investigation.

Regarding today's meeting where the Election Commission's subcommittee summoned the complainants for questioning, did the Election Commission know about it? The Secretary-General of the Election Commission stated that the investigation process is confidential and he cannot disclose details. Further clarification will only be available after the matter is submitted to the Election Commission for consideration and a decision. Only then can the outcome be determined. 'The party will receive justice. As for the feelings of each party, those are simply expressions of the public and will not affect the work. The Election Commission will only consider the law and its enforcement; it will not take public opinion into account because the Election Commission must act according to the law.'

Regarding the Senate collusion case, documents are currently being prepared for inclusion in the meeting agenda. This case involves a large volume of documents, approximately 70,000 pages, and if separated into opinions, there will be about 2,000 pages. Therefore, time is needed to thoroughly prepare the documents before presenting them to the Election Commission meeting. As for how the Election Commission will consider the matter, it will depend on the discretion of the committee, who must carefully examine the details, as the Senate collusion case is complex, involves multiple charges, and has a large number of accused individuals.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Anan Suwannarat, a member of the Election Commission (EC), stated in an interview that the EC is awaiting the submission of the case concerning the collusion in the Senate elections. He noted that there is a large amount of information and the office is working diligently. He affirmed that the EC will proceed cautiously and is not delaying the process; they are ready to consider the matter once it reaches the EC meeting. However, this depends on the facts presented in the case file.
