Suphan buri: Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, has called on the Election Commission of Suphan Buri to investigate the conduct of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA). Saeng emphasized the urgency of the matter, noting that the Election Commission in Suphan Buri is expediting the investigation into the actions of its officials. He pointed out that there remains a 60-day window to announce the certification of the candidate for Member of Parliament in Suphan Buri's District 2.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng addressed concerns regarding the delayed certification of election results for Constituency 2 in Suphan Buri Province. He stated that the Suphan Buri Provincial Election Commission office is actively investigating the situation. The Secretary-General underscored the importance of expediting the investigation while adhering to the legal timeframe for certification. The focus of the investigation is to ascertain whether the polling station officials conducted themselves appropriately.
In response to public concerns about potential corruption involving a single individual, Mr. Saeng expressed uncertainty and stated that conclusions could only be drawn after the investigation's results are available. This assurance comes amid speculation about malpractices that may have hindered the official certification process.
Reporters have highlighted that Suphan Buri's Constituency 2 is currently the only constituency where the Election Commission has not certified the election results. This delay is attributed to a recount that unveiled significant discrepancies from the initial vote count. Allegations of dishonest or unfair conduct by Election Commission members have surfaced, prompting the provincial Election Commission to undertake a thorough investigation into these claims.
