Bangkok: Santi Piyatat has announced a policy to support OKMD, the national learning center, to drive a knowledge-rich society, reduce inequality, and drive the economy through innovation for continuous and stable growth.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santi Piyatat, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and in his capacity as supervising the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (Public Organization) or OKMD, visited TK Park, an OKMD unit, at CentralWorld. This prototype learning center and knowledge management platform aims to provide access to innovation and new knowledge, supporting lifelong learning in the digital age. The initiative seeks to propel Thai society towards a future of wisdom and a knowledge-based economy. Mr. Thawarat Sutabutra, OKMD Director, and his team led a tour of TK Park, highlighting its role as a living library that empowers citizens to grow and compete in the digital world.
Mr. Santi chaired a meeting to deliver key policies in seven areas to enhance OKMD’s role in fostering a learning society. These policies focus on promoting OKMD as a center for the creation of extra-curricular activities through libraries and museums, expanding public access to quality knowledge services, upgrading nationwide learning resources, and developing an online platform for equitable knowledge access.
The policy also emphasizes promoting learning innovations through new technologies and play-based learning, developing essential skills for Thais in digital, financial, and entrepreneurial areas, and fostering appreciation for Thai arts, culture, and wisdom. Additionally, it aims to promote knowledge-based tourism and learning cities, develop learning resources to attract tourists, and establish the National Knowledge Center (NKC) as a modern creative learning center.
OKMD is positioned as both a learning center and a knowledge creation platform, paving the way for a knowledge-rich society and reducing inequality in access to knowledge. This initiative is expected to lay the foundation for a stable and sustainable innovation economy, enabling Thai people of all ages to contribute to the nation’s secure future.
