Khon kaen: The SAT Football Thailand Championship 2026 commenced its second stage at the Khon Kaen Provincial Sports School, marking a vibrant start from August 21-23, 2026. The tournament sees 72 youth teams competing, divided equally into age groups of 10, 11, and 12 years old, with 24 teams in each category. The event aims to build the future of Thai football while boosting the national economy. According to Thai News Agency, the opening ceremony was graced by several notable figures, including Mrs. Proadpran Samanmit, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand for Professional Sports and Boxing. Joining her were Ms. Nittaya Kerdchantuk, Director of the Professional Sports Commission Office, Mr. Nanthapol Thongnilphan, Director of the Professional Sports Promotion and Development Division, and other key officials. The tournament provides young football enthusiasts an opportunity to showcase and refine their skills, potentially paving their way into professional training environments. Ms. Proadpr an highlighted that the championship offers a platform for youth who have not yet joined any academy or club to gain exposure and experience in real competitions. This foundational experience could lead to further development in football academies or clubs, fostering future professional athletes. The Sports Authority of Thailand is committed to nurturing youth sports, offering children access to various disciplines and encouraging their growth into national-level competitors. Additionally, the authority focuses on promoting sports widely played by the youth and public, such as football and volleyball, while also supporting other disciplines like athletics and taekwondo. During the event, Ms. Proadpran also donated sports equipment to 10 local schools in Khon Kaen to enhance sports education and participation. These schools included Khok Si Wittaya Saeng School, Ban Phrom Nimit Community School, and others, aiming to inspire children and youth to engage in sports activities.
